It is with sadness that we learned of the passing of David McDonald on March 21st at the age of 72.
Dave spent 45 years in the pulp and paper industry as a research scientist and was a member of PAPTAC for many of those years. He wrote many peer-reviewed papers, gave keynote addresses, spoke at conferences and technical courses, was an active member of PAPTAC’s Papermaking Technology Committee, as well as a respected reviewer for PAPTAC’s Journal of Science & Technology for Forest Products and Processes (J-FOR).
His many accomplishments and contributions were recognized by industry by his being awarded both PAPTAC’s and TAPPI’s highest honours respectively — the John S Bates Gold Medal and the Gunnar Nicholson Gold Medal.
He will be missed and remembered fondly by friends and family. PAPTAC extends its sincerest condolences to Dave’s family.
