Wet end chemistry in a broad sense involves more than just wet end chemicals.

The chemical environment that papermaker operates his machine impacts drainage, retention, deposits, and scale formation. It is essential to understand this impact in order to achieve high productivity, required quality and cost-effectiveness of operation.

In this webinar, we will cover fundamental chemical factors - pH, acidity-alkalinity, conductivity, cationic demand, zeta-potential, and hardness. Basic description of each of this factors will be followed by examples of their impact on operations.

Dr. Przemyslaw Pruszynski

Przem Pruszynski, PhD (physical organic chemistry - UAM, Poland) retired from Nalco Water an Ecolab Company in November 2017. His career included work in academia (Dalhousie University and University of Toronto) followed by 30 years in the paper industry (Dow Chemical and Nalco). Przem’s areas of expertise and interest included retention, drainage, deposit control, pulping and bleaching of mechanical pulps. Przem authored close to 100 papers and conference contributions and 6 US patents. Many of his papers deal with process stabilization, optimization and logical, lean and conflict-free application of wet end additives.
