Third International Forest Biorefinery Symposium

After two successful editions with strong international presence, the organizing committee is pleased to announce the Third International Forest Biorefinery Symposium. The symposium will be held in conjunction with PaperWeek Canada from February 4th to 8th, 2013 at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal.

The purpose of the symposium is to offer to professionals and scientists working in the field of pulp and paper, biofuels and biochemicals industries in Canada and abroad, a platform for the presentation of recent advancements and technological breakthroughs. Proposals for communications from industry, academia and governments are solicited. Eminent personalities will give keynote presentations.

You are invited to send abstracts of 300 words maximum, before September 3, 2012 to [email protected]. Topics of interest for submission include, but are not limited to:

  • Forest biomass resources;
  • Supply chain design and management;
  • Biorefining technologies;
  • Products from forest biomass;
  • Bioproducts, markets and perspectives;
  • Integration of biorefining technologies into P&P mills;
  • Energy efficiency and sustainability.

The authors of the accepted communications should submit a manuscript or a PowerPoint presentation for publication in the proceedings of PaperWeek Canada. The manuscripts will be reviewed for eventual publication in PAPTAC’s Journal of Science and Technology for Forest Products and Processes (J-FOR). Interested authors will have the opportunity to update the length and quality of their conference papers to being suitable for J-FOR. Papers will be peer-reviewed by a working group of the symposium organizing committee that will recommend publication to the Editorial board of J-FOR. Guidelines for the format of the submitted manuscripts will be communicated to the authors in due time.
