Welcome by Stuart Scott and John Brazil.2. Introduction of Steering Committee Members and guests.
3. Minutes of last steering committee were approved after some discussion regarding the financial situation.

5. Sub-Committee Minutes Reports
Annual Meeting:
( Jean Bouchard )The International Bleaching Conference in Halifax has dried up the source of papers but there will be a paper session ( 6 papers ) as well as a round-table on scaling.
Internet:
( Chris Kanters )The Web site continues to evolve. Recent improvements include a Bleachery Protocol page, a French version of the public portion of the web page and a Supplier acknowledgement page.
Improvements/additions will include a hit counter and a used equipment section.
Electronic membership list will be updated only twice a year, following our meeting. The summary of responses to e-mail questions has been working out well.
Bleaching Chemicals
( Chris Kanters )The sub-committee will be giving a talk on H202 safety. A scaling roundtable will also be presented this meeting. The MgSO4 usage survey is ongoing and will update during the subcommittee presentations.
Safety presentations will be taken over by the bleaching equipment subcommittee.
Bleaching Equipment
( Murray Walters )Ralph Lunn and Don McCabe will be presenting a general information session on consistency measurement and control.
As part of the Technical Section Chris Reid will be presenting topics on FRP use and abuse within the pulp and papers industry.
Bleaching Protocol
( Dan Davies )A PowerPoint presentation on Bleaching Protocol has been distributed to teaching institutions in both English and French. Will approach Barbara Van Lierop to reconcile the Canadian and US versions
There is a need to more widely promote current protocol, especially at smaller meetings ( Atlantic Branch ).
Teaching Bleaching
( Rae Cunnington )The feedback from the breakfast sessions from the International Bleaching Conference in Halifax was very positive.
The short 3&1/2 day bleaching course held in Miramichi was attended by 25 participants. Mixed feedback has been received but it has not been all been collated.
Environmental
( Jeff Tolan )Will be presenting five a roundtable on AOX. Will be looking at making a presentation on US regulations in a future meeting.
6. Future Meetings

7. Financial
Expenses arising from the International Bleaching Conference has been absorbed by PAPTAC. As a result the expected balance at the end of this meeting is expected to approach $10,000. A waiver for the supplier contribution for the year 2001 is proposed.

9. Certificate of Appreciation
Don Olson to receive a plaque honouring his contributions made during his tenure as committee chairman.
