- Welcome/greetings by Jim Collins
- No items to follow-up on from Fall, 1994 meeting
- Membership discussion
- The current Bleaching Committee guideline is that if a non-mill member misses three consecutive meetings the membership may be terminated. Tom McDonnough attended two of the last eight meeting - Jim Collins will talk to him (Jim talked to Tom McDonough during the meeting. Tom realizes the importance of attending the meetings. The meetings have conflicted with his duties at IPST. The September meeting will conflict with his requirements for orientation week at IPST.)
- The following new guideline will be added:
- If any member misses two consecutive meetings, the chair will send a warning letter (copied to the member’s manager) along with the minutes. If the member misses three consecutive meetings the chair will send a second warning letter to the member (copied to the member’s manager) along with the minutes. Thereafter the member will receive notification of meetings, but will no longer receive meeting minutes. In the case of a non-mill member, the membership may be terminated.
- Stan Heimburger and Nancy VanAllen were changed from probationary members to regular members. Gordon Brown and Dave Willis were accepted as new probationary members. It was noted that Jeff Tolan is currently a regular member, not a probationary member. Jerome Powers will be dropped from the Bleaching Committee.
- Currently 19 of 71, or 25% of the Bleaching Committee members are non-mill, non-Paprican members. CPPA guidelines, approved by the Executive Council on June 6, 1985 allow a maximum of 1/3 Sustaining Member personnel on a Technical Section Committee. The Bleaching Committee’s Steering Committee decided that the maximum for the Bleaching Committee will be 25% with some discretionary allowance, but never to exceed the CPPA guideline of 1/3.
- Chair of Environmental Impacts Subcommittee
- Jeff Tolan will be approached to replace Jack Histed for the next three year period.
- Sub-committee Projects
- continue on as is, allowing the sub-committees to assess the need for fewer projects
- Minutes of Meetings
- Sandwell will continue to print and distribute minutes
- Size of minutes will be reduced by:
- adding only Alkaline Pulping Committee minutes, all other liaison reports to be kept to maximum of 2 pages
- publish attendance list in spring minutes only
- 50 copies of technical papers provided by authors at the meeting, technical papers only in minutes sent to non-attendees
- for technical presentatons print 2 or 4 overheads per page
- suggested guidelines for overheads - CAPITALS, BOLD, font size 14
