3.1 Alkaline Pulping (John Brazil)
- last meeting held May 14-16,1995 in Kamloops; refer to attached minutes for discussion of new developments and problem solving sessions which were held.
- next meeting is taking place in Timmins, Ontario September 18-20, 1995; R.Dokis will request a copy of the minutes from P. Miller for inclusion in these minutes.
3.2 Mechanical Pulping (Ron Dokis)
- last meeting held March 27-28,1995 in Charlotte,N.C.
- issues dicussed : post refining, refiner consistency control, refining intensity increases, thermal pulping (new technology)
- technical presentations held on Bleaching For High Brightness, and TMP Optimization.
- Mechanical Pulping Course will be held in 1995.
3.3 Energy (Ron Dokis)
- no minutes available - Glen Black can obtain minutes. R. Dokis will follow up on this.
3.4 Environmental (Dennis Matson)
- last meeting held May 7, 1995 at TAPPI Environmental Conference with 21 attendees (9 mill, 12 suppliers/consultants)
- next meeting October 22, 1995 in Halifax, before CPPA Environmental Conference

3.5 TAPPI Bleaching (Dennis Owen)
- last meeting held May 18, 1995 at N.C. State, Durham, N.C.; next meeting October 1, 1995, at Alkaline Pulping Conference in Chicago.

- Bleach Plant course will be held March 25, 1996 in Florida
- some members of TAPPI are trying to catch up to us in terms of information sharing

"The Bleaching Committee cannot support the proposed Process Closure course scheduled for the fall of 1996 because:
- the Bleaching Committee is already sponsoring a course in the fall of 1996;
- there are a number of courses and conferences scheduled prior to the proposed Process Closure course that will be discussing process closure.
In lieu of a Process Closure course the Bleaching Committee is planning a roundtable discussion and Technical Session on process closure at the fall 1996 Bleaching Committee meeting."

- Tech ‘95 recycling course held in Ottawa; Recycling Research Forum to be held November 20-22, in Vancouver

- Tom Fawcett has accepted the position of Bleaching Equipment Subcommittee chair
- Dominique Phaneuf was accepted into membership
- 4 applications for probationary membership were received
- 3 members will be sent their first warning letters for non-attendance at the Bleaching Committee meetings
