Henry Mintzberg, OC OQ FRSC, is an world-renowned academic and author on business and management. His work and research on management practices has had influence around the world. In 2004 he published a book entitled Managers Not MBAs (Mintzberg 2004) which outlines what he believes to be wrong with management education today. Mintzberg claims that prestigious graduate management schools focus on numbers and that their attempts to make management a science are damaging the discipline of management. Mintzberg advocates more emphasis on post graduate programs that educate practicing managers by relying upon action learning and insights from their own problems and experiences. Prof. Mintzberg will host a large-audience workshop, as part of PaperWeek’s Management Program, aimed at providing tools for help our managers become better managers in the rapidly changing landscape of the pulp/paper and forest products sector.
