Live coverage of the 2015 FIBRE Conference Underway

On a misty Sunday night at the foot of beautiful Mount-Royal in Montreal, participants to the 3rd FIBRE Conference gathered to kick-start three days of exchanges on the most recent advances in various field of research to support the forest sector. On the way “up” (the University of Montreal campus is certainly hilly), many were already practicing their elevator / stairs pitch. These sales pitches are certainly more inspiring under burgeoning magnolia trees than between 4 walls. This year’s FIBRE Conference theme is “The Path Forward” not “the path upward”, yet this title could very well fit its spirit – and geography! Many participants gathered at the Welcome Reception on the Sunday night preceding the official launch of this meeting of scientists, policy-makers, and business people. Approximately 200 participants have registered this year, the same number as in Vancouver, British Columbia, for last year’s conference (the first conference was held in Cornwall, Ontario in 2013).
