PAPTAC welcomes Quebec's 2012-2017 Forest Industry Strategy

The Quebec Government, recently revealed a strategic plan for the Transformation of the Forest Sector for 2012-2017. The plan proposes a vision for the Quebec Forest Industry, acknowledging the progress it has made in recent years and supporting the future development of innovative technologies to diversify wood-based products and tackle new markets for the pulp & paper industry.

PAPTAC welcomes this important step taken by the Quebec Governement to support the industry and its transformation for the coming years. This plan presents tangible efforts to back the pulp and paper producers in their efforts to optimize their operations, develop high value-added products and address the need to renew their workforce.

PAPTAC will continue to be closely involved with the industry and our members to provide activities and resources that will help apply and solidify these incentives. As a leader in the dissemination of information on industry research and the improvement of operations, forest advancement is at the forefront of our objectives. With vehicles such as the J-FOR Journal, our industry conferences & courses as well as our National Job Fair, PAPTAC is in an ideal position to provide tools supporting an effective renewal of our workforce as well as the innovation and knowedge transfer within Canada's pulp/paper and forest products industry.

We look forward to collaborating to this mobilising effort of the key players of the industry to achieve these objectives and build on the progress we've made.
