Alberta Newsprint Company
Alberta Newsprint Company (ANC), a joint venture of the Stern Group and West Fraser Timber Company Ltd., is a leading manufacturer of premium newsprint.
Located in Whitecourt, and operating with a non-unionized workforce, the firm’s newsprint mill—the first in Alberta—produces paper of such high quality that it has become the standard by which other newsprint manufactured in Canada is measured. The company is an incredibly successful, well-financed, progressive organization that is regarded as one the best companies in the industry.
ANC is currently recruiting for the role of Electrical & Instrumentation Coordinator. Reporting directly to the Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent, the new Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Coordinator will be responsible for leading and supporting their team of E&I technicians as well as promoting overall cooperation among their team and between other departments.
As a leader in the mill, managing a team of 19, the E&I Coordinator will be required to troubleshoot and problem solve as needed while promoting best practices in overall reliability and preventative maintenance. In addition, the performance of standard administrative tasks – overtime approval, vacation and shiftman relief – as well as the development of technicians, through performance reviews and training plans, will be crucial aspects of the role.
The ideal candidate is an Electrical Journeyman or Electrical Engineer who has excelled in an industrial maintenance environment where he or she has driven best practices in electrical reliability maintenance. The successful individual works well in a multi-disciplined, team environment and brings outstanding leadership and people skills.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to join a world-class organization with a bright future. The successful candidate will be joining a very positive and progressive environment which has some of the best and most experienced pulp and papermakers at the core of its operations, and in which people are respected and engaged.
The position will be based in Whitecourt, Alberta, a family-oriented town with a great combination of commercial, residential, leisure, and recreational opportunities.
