    Justin Charron
Process Engineer at J.D. Irving, Limited

Justin Charron is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, and a Diploma in Technology Management & Entrepreneurship in 2010. Justin has only ever known a career in the Pulp and Paper Industry! While attending university, he worked a summer term at Lake Utopia Paper as a general laborer, and two summers at Irving Pulp & Paper as a process engineering student in the technical department. Upon graduation, Justin began his career as the Quality Engineer at Irving Pulp & Paper, working closely with wood supply chain, operations, and customers. In his role at the Kraft mill, Justin became a certified Six Sigma Green Belt, and gained exposure to the various pulp, paper, and converting operations of J.D. Irving, Limited. In 2012, Justin became involved in piloting the Pulp & Paper Division of J.D. Irving Ltd.’s Career Starts Program, which involves rotating young engineers throughout the four pulp and paper mills, giving them experience in various fields of engineering at each site. Currently, he is working at Irving Paper as a Process Engineer, and gaining experience in the supercalendered papermaking process.

In 2010, Justin received the PAPTAC Atlantic Branch Student Bursary, which kick-started his active involvement with PAPTAC. He served as the mill champion to the Atlantic Branch for Irving Pulp & Paper from 2010 to 2012. Also, in 2011 he was nominated to be the Publicity Chair on the PAPTAC Atlantic Branch Executive Committee, and currently holds that position. Justin strongly believes that being involved with PAPTAC provides a wealth of opportunities to share information, and to learn from each other in an ever evolving industry!
