    Holton Quinn
    Process Control Engineer at Alberta Newsprint Company

    Holt Quinn is a graduate from the University of Idaho, earning a B.S. degree in 1981 and an M.S. degree in 2006, both in Chemical Engineering. His career started with Weyerhaeuser where he worked as a process engineer in both Kraft and mechanical pulp mills. Later he worked several years for Pacific Simulation in both process simulation and advanced refiner control.

    Currently Holt provides advanced control and process analysis expertise for Alberta Newsprint. He strives to increase process understanding to allow continuous improvement of the mill operation.

    Holt has been a member of TAPPI for many years and became a member of PAPTAC after joining Alberta Newsprint Company in 2007. In 2011 Holt won the Douglas Atack Award for best Mechanical Pulping Paper. He also volunteered to chair the Process Control Community. “Organizations such as PAPTAC provide an important venue to exchange the ideas that renew and invigorate the industry. I believe it is important for mills to actively participate to keep this exchange relevant and beneficial.”
