Steam showers are a mature technology and are installed on a majority of new machines. Technological development of recent years caused that many older steam showers became obsolete and should be replaced. While a well operating press section steam shower can save energy and improve the product quality, incorrect choice of equipment, its location or its operation can cause a waste of energy and impaired machine runnability and product quality.

Topics:

• Safety issues
• Points of applications
• Steam shower in the press section
• Effect on machine operation
Effect on product quality
• Energy aspects
• Potential problems
