PAPTAC’s Bleaching Committee Fall 2021 Meeting will be held virtually over two (2) half-day sessions on Tuesday November 2nd and Wednesday November 3rd.

The topic of our Fall meeting is Pulp Washing and we will have four (4) great presentations around that topic on Day 1:
- “Brownstock Washing Improvements at Mercer Celgar” presented by Marc Caruth and Koowar Singh, Mercer Celgar
- “Brownstock and Eo carryover; ClO2 Consumption” presented by Tom Mullen, Process Innovations
- “Carryover is Bad: a tribute to Don McCabe” presented by Leslie Adams, Irving Saint John
- “Improving Washer Performance with Chemical Cleaning” presented by Isabelle Laroche, Domtar Windsor

Safety Roundtable and Presentation
At each meeting we cover a specific chemical. We will start the session with a short update on the chemical safety presentations rotation by Jim Collins. For this meeting the safety presentation will be on sodium hydroxide and it will be presented by Stéphane Messier from Chemtrade. The presentation will be 30 minutes, including 5 to 10 minutes for questions. This will be followed by participants providing their safety updates. Sharing of you HSE statistics and lessons learned from recent incidents is encouraged as a mean to increase our collective and individual safety awareness. We will continue with our Safety Roundtable during which we will follow the same structure as before. We will go around the “room” for participants to pool the audience with their safety related questions and concerns.

Mill Update and Opportunities
Each participant will be given the opportunity to speak as we go around the “virtual room”. We will start with a first round where participants provide an update on what has happened at their company in since our last meeting in May. Once we have been around once, we will begin successive rounds where each participant can ask the audience a question. Use this opportunity to gather feedback and possible solutions from the audience. Think of issues you are dealing with at your site and for which you could use some hints and advises. Once everyone has asked their first question, we will start a new round for those who have a second question and will do successive rounds like this until we are out of time or questions.
