DESCRIPTION
Background
The Mardon Prize is intended to honor the memory of Jasper Mardon, who made many significant contributions to the development of papermaking. It is intended to be a prestigious award for technical contributions to the development of papermaking as reported in a paper presented at the PAPTAC Annual Meeting.
Purpose and Objectives
The purpose of the Prize is to recognize an important technical accomplishment in advancing the science and technology of papermaking described in a paper presented at a PAPTAC annual meeting.
Nature of Award
A certificate supplied by PAPTAC. Funding for the certificates of the winning paper will be from monies raised by the Jasper Mardon Prize Committee for this purpose.

The award is not intended to act as a "lifetime achievement" or "service to the industry" award.
Judging Committee
A sub-committee of the PAPTAC Paper Machine Technology Committee will select the paper. The sub-committee may select a maximum of one paper per year, or may choose not to award the paper in any year.
Award Presentation
The winning paper will be announced at a meeting of the Paper Machine Technology Committee and an announcement made for the trade press. The award will be presented at the Paper Machine Technology session at the PAPTAC Annual Meeting subsequent to the meeting at which the paper was presented.
